Hosea 14:7 There is a classic story about a social worker who went into the home of a family and was quite taken aback by the conditions she found there. The family did not really have a sense of neatness. Everything was filthy. They never cleaned up anything. There were old newspapers on the floor, and there was a mess everywhere she looked. She thought and she prayed. She said, "God, how can I, in a subtle way, make them have a desire for cleanliness and better things in life which they could have if they took the time?" One day she was at a flower shop. She noticed this incredibly beautiful potted plant. It was the most beautiful plant she had seen in some time. She bought it but instead of taking it to her own house, she took it over to the house of that family. She set the potted plant in the middle of the dining room table. The family started to look at the beauty of that plant. They started to look at their surroundings and they clearly saw that their surroundings just did not match the beauty of the plant. Within a very short time, they started to have the desire to clean up their environment. Over a period of time, they even painted and spruced up the place—because of the plant. Isn’t that what happened to humanity when Jesus Christ came into the world? I believe it was. Jesus brought a positive teaching and uplifting message of love and what is possible for you as a human being to do. Many humans started to clean up their lives. The beauty of God’s Spirit shines forth in your life. Knowledge of this fills you with love and soothes away the stress of daily living. The beauty of the knowledge that you are loved by your Creator, and that you are an important part of God’s world changes everything. Just as a spring flower turns to the warming rays of the early morning sun, you, too, turn to the light of God – and you are filled with the beauty of the all-powerful beautiful presence of God’s love. In God’s presence, your awareness of your own spiritual identity unfolds so that the inner beauty of God’s spirit shines forth from you. Such beauty of God’s awareness reveals itself as love, and that beauty is essential to your life to help you appreciate living in a world in which everything can work together to add to the beauty and symmetry of the whole. POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER: Dear God, help me to clean up my life. Help me to clean up my life inside and outside. Help me to bring the beauty into my mind, body, and surroundings.
