How fast and unexpected times have changed. I was in New York less than 100 days ago celebrating Christmas and seeing Broadway plays. That seems like a distant surreal dream now. We are busier than ever before in our history with prayer requests dealing with this horrible virus and unforeseen events in our economy. It is a strange time of isolation. I have always loved being a people person. I am a hugger. I used to love to greet people, that I haven’t seen in a while with a hug, or at least a warm handshake. Now times are different, and we must stand 10 feet apart. Like most working Americans I am isolated in my work. I was taking a walk the other night by myself and I saw flowers coming up everywhere. Evidence of Spring and God’s continual renewal. The beauty was everywhere. The message I received was the beauty of GOD WILL WIN. The message that we receive in hard times is that we are ALL one. We are not meant to be separated souls living isolated lives on lonely islands; we are here to care for one another. We have learned in America that we are not separate states, and the world has learned that we are not separate countries. We are each souls with families and loving desires for wholeness in life. The good of God always overwhelms the bad. Even when the bad rears its ugly head - it only has a short lifespan. This too shall pass. The time is coming when this virus goes away. The time is coming when the economies of our world spring back strong. The time is coming when we can hug again and feel the closeness of our families and friends. We will be able to go to church again and perhaps value the social activities more than ever before. Part of our faith is remaining patient by not rushing too fast - allowing God to do the complete work of healing. It’s like when you’re cooking a cake in the oven, if you’re excited, and take it out too soon it will be nothing but paste – unfit to eat but left in for the proper time it becomes a delight to any celebration. Even when we recover, we will be in shock for a while because so many have lost so much at no fault of their own, but in time we will celebrate again. God will heal us, our nation, and our world. My message for Easter this year says that we are Easter People, we are defined more by the third day than the first. We do not look to the darkness and gloom of day one - we know that we will rise again into the glory of full life. No tomb could hold Jesus and no tomb can hold us. The stone of blockage will be rolled away - we will come out - and we will live again fully. Following Jesus, we do not look to appearances no matter how hard those appearances seek to blind us. We know that the good of God always wins and will win this time as every time. POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER: Dear God, help me to gain freedom from worry, anxiety, pressure, and strain as I realize and affirm that You are in charge. Give me the knowledge that all will be all right again Help me to build my faith. Help me to know deep in my soul and mind that You will win, and God’s good will prevail. I pray that Your revitalizing life flows through me to strengthen every cell and organ. I pray that I’m protected and regenerated constantly into manifest health and wholeness. Allow me to know, even in my isolation, that I am surrounded with Your love and presence. I pray that life is not just restored but better than before. I pray that we value each other even more than before. I pray for the day when I can reach out again and touch and that others can reach out to me.
