Exodus 31:3 A DAY TO HONOR OUR VETERANS. The positive Christianity prayer team, and all of the retreatants enjoying the first programs of 20th Anniversary Celebration Cruise hold our veterans in prayer this day. When we see our flag flying, we are very proud, for it is the symbol of all that we love as Americans. We also have to realize, that there are a lot of men and women that died to keep it flying. A great number, more than we can count, gave their lives to make sure that this flag flies free. And on this Veterans' Day, we pause to remember all those that gave the ultimate sacrifice of their young lives to continue our way of life. But we do not stop giving thanks only to those who have lost their lives in service to our great land; we give thanks to all the veterans who have given a portion of their life in service to our nation. Many of the heroes that we talk about on Veterans' Day were just young kids when they enlisted or were drafted, and yet they proved themselves, without any doubt, and became strong men and women. My own father was part of the D-Day invasion of Normandy Beach; he went back, in the last part of his life, to visit the area where so many lives were lost around him. Many veterans have gone back, years later, to where they served in war, and it helped them, as they are able to see with their physical eyes, instead of their memories, how good the area has become. They are able to witness the positive changes that have happened in their lifetime, and know that they were a part of creating a better place. Even watching the History Channel, we, in our innocent minds cannot even comprehend some of the things that our veterans have seen with their own eyes, or worse, experienced with their own bodies. As tough as we think it was, I can guarantee that it was 1,000 times tougher. And for those living, that have seen best friends die around them, the pain, and the toughness that they needed to muster are inconceivable. Positive Daily Inspiration goes to many wonderful military families. Daily we pray for their safety. Veterans that served in peacetime are to be honored also, because they had no guarantees, and they served with a full realization that, tomorrow, they could be in combat somewhere in the world. Most veterans will tell you that it was the worst of times, and surprisingly, the best of times, because they were called upon to do something that they thought was personally impossible, and yet, they did it. The veterans surpassed their childhood selves and surprised themselves at their achievements. They did the impossible and succeeded. So, in this day of honoring veterans, we realize these are the men and women that have gone beyond the norm. At one point in their lives they were a rock, a true foundation for the future of humanity to stand upon.
