November 6, 2019 www.PositiveChristianity.org presents Positive Daily Inspiration EVERY WORD YOU SPEAK IS LIKE A PRAYER November 6, 2019 www.PositiveChristianity.org for the 20th year presents Positive Daily Inspiration EVERY WORD YOU SPEAK IS LIKE A PRAYER “Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.” Proverbs 16:24 We become what we speak. Our words project to others what we are. Most people spend an hour a day grooming, to look good to others. We must groom our verbal skills towards faith and positivity, because in the end, that's what others see and feel from us. I overheard a lady in Best Buy cruelly yelling at a salesperson. She was extremely negative; her words were like a verbal disclosure of her soul. I couldn't help but notice her. I also couldn't help but notice the cross she was wearing around her neck. And then I heard something quite profound. A fellow customer gently asked, "I see you're wearing a cross, what church do you go to?" She responded. Then the customer gently took her hand, and said, "dear lady, you need to find a new church, it's not working for you." This took the woman back. It was said in such a gentle helping way. I smile as I write this, because I realize this person's special communication skills. If I tried to say that to this lady, I would've probably been hit. I could tell, as much as my eavesdropping could discover – that the woman realized she was a representative of her faith in a bad way. In my seminars, I often tell the story of an imaginary friend, whose first name is Molly; her middle name is, "This is my problem;" her last name is, "Do ya want to hear it?" Molly lived to dump her problems on others, she couldn't wait to share and wilt the ears of her victims. Our talk is often a self-fulfilling prophecy. If she realized that every word that she speaks is like a prayer, I know that she would be more careful. Utter and outer have the same root meaning. What you utter with your mouth produces in the outer. Have you ever noticed the people who make the least amount of money talk the most about it. The ones that make the most talk the least about it. You will find the people in lack talk and talk and talk and talk about the lack – not realizing what they are doing. We need to stabilize our words and thoughts if we want to be stable in our life. Whatever we voice, we began to attract to ourselves. Our words must vocalize our faith and be representative of our positive nature. Emerson says, "Words are alive and if you cut one, it will bleed." Jesus said that His words "Are spirit and life and will never pass away." Our words are spirit and life too. Never make an assertion in your life that you would not want to persist in your home or business. By talking negatively, you are charging the atmosphere with this, and you are making a comfortable place for these unwelcome guests by your fireside and they will want to stay. There is a saying you have heard many times; perhaps you have said it yourself. People say, "Talk is cheap." We have all said that at one time or another, BUT is it? Talk can be very costly. The question is: How much do our words cost us? Many times, there is an outer cost. There is certainly a cost in our relationships. If I say something positive to you, it builds a bridge between us. But if I say something negative, it burns that bridge down. We all know that ill-spoken words cost friendship. When you have spoken negative words often, they reign over you, your friendships, and your family. Your past words have control; you no longer have control. Winston Churchill once said something I want to share with you. He said: “Eating my words has never given me indigestion.” We also have the power to take back our words. Our words clothe us and are what others see. When you view other people, after a while you do not see them; you see the words coming out of their mouths. We must take responsibility for our words. What are we doing with our words? Imagine that we are the watering can for the garden of life. The words coming out of our mouths should do three things: 1. They should be positive. 2. They should be uplifting. 3. They should be nourishing. As a good Christian, you need to check your words and see if they are following this trinity of being positive, uplifting, and nourishing. Knowing that our words may communicate more than we intend them to reveal, because they spring from our deepest thoughts, we decide to communicate positive joy and love through our words and actions. Our words reach out to touch and uplift everyone around us. No matter what the subject is, the inner reality of God’s presence stays the same. God’s love and peace affect us in a deeply personal way, which is revealed through our words and actions. Let our verbal message be one of God’s love—a gift that we can share with our world. _____ THANK YOU!
