Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin. God picks you up from the patch, brings you in, and washes off all the dirt. Then God cuts the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff. God removes the seeds of doubt, hate, and greed. Last, God carves you a new smiling face and puts God‘s light inside of you to shine for all the world to see. _______ Spirituality bypasses time and space. God's time is not the same as human time. A minute spent with God can be equal to an eternity of Divine answers. I have seen people take one-minute to close their eyes and go to God in prayer and have their entire outlook on the situation change. While I prefer longer prayer, I recommend prayer of ANY length. Often one-minute spent in prayer can change the preceding hours and days in a miraculous way. In our Bible in Mark 6:31 it states, “Come away to a deserted place, all by yourselves, and rest a while.” Whatever you are doing right now, wherever you are, I ask you to come away and rest for a moment in prayer. Come away by tuning out any noise and confusion that are going on around you, and retreat to the inner sanctuary of your soul in prayer. This retreat is a spiritual homecoming for you. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, you need to do except to allow yourself to be with God. You feel, more than hear, the gentle whisper of God saying, “Here, my beloved, I give you my rest.” In the silence of prayer, you enter a sacred meeting place where only joy and love and peace exist. In the silence of prayer, you meet with God, who welcomes you with open arms. Lovingly, tenderly, you are surrounded and enfolded in a healing, radiating light that can never be extinguished. In the silence of prayer, you are one with the wisdom of God. In the silence of prayer, you are one with the love of God. God’s Spirit flows in and through you wave after wave, comforting you and renewing you in mind, body, and spirit. In the silence of prayer, you are aware of your oneness with God and with all creation. You understand that no matter where you are or where you go, God is with you. As if by some mystery, all that concerned you before is now gone. Any physical discomfort has ceased, and you feel a rush of new energy. You return to your day knowing that you can come home to be with God as quickly and easily as you make the decision to do so. With God, you find rest and you are refreshed. You will become more aware of your Creator and more aware of the wonder and delight in your world. You will become so thankful for God’s love and care. You will become amazed at the extent of God’s care as you watch miracles unfold in your life. You will be empowered to reach out in the joy of loving that first touched you during prayer. You will feel a greater understanding of your faith and in God’s unconditional love for you. Your faith in God will increase through a growing awareness of God’s presence.
