It is surprising the things that we choose to be afraid of in this life. A black cat, walking under a ladder, and scary signs, all are superstitions based on fear and hesitancy to move forward in life. Some people look for excuses, for reasons to hesitate, and therefore invent superstitions of fear. Decide right now that with God this is going to be a great day. Become FEARLESS TOWARDS ADVERSITY – today! In the 1920s, when Ernest Hemingway was working hard to perfect his craft, he lost his suitcase containing ALL his manuscripts – many stories he laboriously polished to jewel – like perfection – which he had been planning to publish in a book. The devastated Hemingway couldn't conceive of redoing his work. He could think only of the months he had devoted to his arduous writing – and for nothing, he was now convinced. But when he lamented his loss to the poet Ezra Pound, Pound called it a stroke of luck. Pound assured Hemingway that when he rewrote the stories, he would forget the weak parts; only the best material would reappear. Instead of framing the event in disappointment and disaster, Pound cast it in the light of opportunity. Hemingway did rewrite the stories – and the rest, as they say, is history: he became one of the major figures in American literature. In the book "Absolute Zero Gravity" the reader is asked to answer this statement: "Name the one commodity where supply always exceeds the demand." And the answer is: trouble. But I disagree, the one commodity where supply always exceeds the demand is God’s ever-present help. God is larger than any of your troubles! God can turn around any adversity in your life from a negative to a positive. Like a giant dagger out of heaven, a tornado thrust its fury into the heart of an unsuspecting Ohio town. Xenia was literally ripped apart on a fateful day in 1974. So severe was the damage that many predicted the historic community would become a mere ghost town. The churches in Xenia prayed for a miracle from God. Prayers and God-given motivation proved those predictions wrong. Xenia did not die, and today it is a thriving community. The path of destruction simply cleared the way for new shopping centers, modern homes, and a large attractive community park. We all have adversity in our lives, and it will momentarily freeze us in our tracks. The way to become unfrozen and move ahead is to ask for God-given strength and for God-given direction and guidance to show us the way. If you team up with God in a moment of adversity, you are assured of a lifetime of great accomplishment. This is going to be a great new God-given day, because you choose to make it so!
