Hebrews 12:1 William Feather said, "Success is hanging on after others have let go." The first one to break the tape at the finish line wins the race. All the months, and even years, of training cumulate in one glorious moment, and then that race is history. Yet, every runner gained something. Perhaps the greatest game for all was running for the pure joy of it. All of us are in a race of sorts. I pray though that we do not get trapped in running the rat race, like a hamster on the wheel. We are trying to move ahead in life, to gain momentum, but we are not in competition with others, we are only in competition with our former self. We each answer the high call of becoming that ever-growing, ever-improving spiritual being that we are capable of expressing. You may not always feel like a winner, but you are. Each day you gain extra strength and conditioning. Just when you need it most, you get the second wind you must have in order to move forward in your spiritual growth. Being successful can mean more – so much more – than being at the top in the business field, or in high financial circles. That rush of feeling successful often comes from a genuine, heartfelt belief in, and an understanding of our own spirituality. Giving 100 percent of ourselves means that we will allow the Spirit of God to guide us in important as well as everyday matters. Then we will succeed at being the best we can be. The rewards of having given something as valuable as love and kindness leave us feeling good about ourselves and what we have done, and we win the spiritual race. There are many races in life; the most important is the race with our former self. The new self must strive to move forward in order to move out front. You are always a winner as a spiritual being. God sees you as a winner right now. God provides you with whatever it takes to be successful in whatever you do. Now it is up to you to use those qualities of God that are yours to use, to give each endeavor your all, and to be successful. The only race that matters is the race of this moment. Although you may have plans for the future – for your special dreams and goals – you realize that right now, this very moment is the time frame in which you live. How important it is to live each day, each moment knowing you are one with God. This understanding makes you a winner and satisfies a deep inner longing in your soul. You are so satisfied that you are not continually running faster and faster to acquire more things, or rushing to complete some project. You race to live fully in the now, affirming that each moment you can begin again. You race to discover the beauty of living in the now, discovering so much more of God around you and in your world. You are a winner! POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER: Dear God, thank You for seeing me as a winner and believing in me. It gives me great power to move forward knowing that You have faith in me. Knowing that You have faith in me only increases my faith in You. Give me ideas and inspirations to become better than my former self. Help me to reinvent myself. I am ready, excited, and willing.
