"But the Lord made the heavens. Honor and majesty are before God;
strength and joy are in God's place." 1 Chronicles 16:26, 27

In his beautiful book, "I Shall Not Want," Robert Ketchum tells of a
Sunday School teacher who asked her group of children if anyone could
quote the entire 23rd Psalm.

A golden-haired, four-and-a-half-year-old girl was among those who raised
their hands.

A bit skeptical, the teacher asked if she could really quote the entire
psalm.

The little girl came to the front of the room, faced the class, made a
perky little bow, and said, "The Lord is my shepherd, that's all I want."

She bowed again and went and sat down.

That may well be the greatest interpretation of the 23rd Psalm ever heard.

Christian By Maya Angelou

When I say..."I am a Christian", I'm not shouting I'm clean living'.
I'm whispering I was lost, now I'm found and forgiven.

When I say..."I am a Christian" I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need CHRIST to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian" I’m not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need God's strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian" I’m not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian" I’m not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible but, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... "I am a Christian" I still feel the sting of pain,
I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon God's name.

When I say... "I am a Christian” I’m not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple person who received God's good grace, somehow.

One day I had lunch with some friends. Jim, a short, balding golfer type about 80 years old, came along with them – all in all, a pleasant bunch.

When the menus were presented, we ordered salads, sandwiches, and soups, except for Jim who said, "Ice Cream, please. Two scoops, chocolate.

I wasn't sure my ears heard right, and the others were aghast. "Along with heated apple pie," Jim added, completely unabashed.

We tried to act quite nonchalant, as if people did this all the time. But when our orders were brought out, I didn't enjoy mine.

I couldn't take my eyes off Jim as his pie a-la-mode went down. The other guys couldn't believe it. They ate their lunches silently and grinned.

The next time I went out to eat, I called and invited Jim. I lunched on white meat tuna. He ordered a parfait. I smiled. He asked if he amused me I answered, "Yes, you do, but also you confuse me."

"How come you order rich desserts, while I feel I must be sensible?" He laughed and said "I'm tasting all that is possible."

I try to eat the food I need and do the things I should. But life's so short, my friend, I hate missing out on something good.

This year I realized how old I was. (He grinned) I haven't been this old before."

"So, before I die, I've got to try those things that for years I had ignored.

I haven't smelled all the flowers yet. There are too many trout streams I haven't fished. There's more fudge sundaes to wolf down and kites to be flown overhead.

There are too many golf courses I haven't played. I've not laughed at all the jokes. I've missed a lot of sporting events and potato chips and cokes.

I want to wade again in water and feel ocean spray on my face. I want to sit in a country church once more and thank God for grace.

I want peanut butter every day spread on my morning toast. I want un-timed long distance calls to the folks I love the most.

I haven't cried at all the movies yet or walked in the morning rain. I need to feel wind on my face. I want to be in love again.

So, if I choose to have dessert, instead of having dinner, then should I die before night fall, I'd say I died a winner, because I missed out on nothing. I filled my heart's desire. I had that final chocolate mousse before my life expired."

With that, I called the waitress over. "I've changed my mind, " I said.
"I want what he is having, only add some more whipped cream!"

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God,

I am grateful right now for ALL the blessings I have in my life right now in
this moment. When I consider my health, friends and family just to name a
few of these things, I am truly rich. I allow myself to feel the richness I
have in my life right now. I surround myself in that feeling of richness
which always exists for me.

I affirm that God is my employer and I cannot be laid off. Positions may
change, companies may come and go, but God is steadfast in the universe and in my life. I affirm and feel the truth of this statement. I allow the
truth of this statement to settle in my bones. It becomes that much a part
of me.

I allow and actually want God to guide and direct me as to what is next on
my journey. I am actively being sought by a universe which wants nothing
more than to fully and completely support me. Divine ideas are at work
drawing to me the right and perfect place for my skills and talents. God is
my employer. I affirm and believe these truths.

In the name and through the nature of Jesus Christ. I say so it is and Amen.
