Tomorrow, I will go to see the funeral train leave Spring Texas, to witness his last journey to the Bush library in College Station Texas. He was a joyful man who loved to laugh. Jumping out of planes when he was in his 90s, and down his colorful socks, he exhibited his joy in living to the fullest. JOY "A glad heart makes a cheerful countenance ... But a cheerful heart has a continual feast." Proverbs 15:13,15 (Heart in your Bible means your inner mind) Joyful living is a choice, not dependent on circumstances. You can choose to be joyful and become just that. The outside world has little power over what you spiritually choose to live inside of you. Just thinking of the time when you felt great joy brings a smile to your lips. Take a moment now to relive past joy. Write thoughts down on a piece of paper, every memory that comes to you, and begin to build a written memory bank of times when you laughed hard, played, enjoyed yourself, and smiled in your soul. Keep this paper with you at all times, reviewing it as you need it, and hopefully adding to it on a daily basis. A good life is not a series of big things, but an accumulation of small happy memories. Lots of small happy memories are investments leading to a truly rich life. The joy of God lives through you today as a celebration of your spirituality. A sweet memory sparks a gladness of the soul. An emotional and physical response follows that uplifts you even when you are feeling down. When anticipating a time in the future when a dream or goal becomes reality brings joy right now, and you are energized to go on. You are ready to move on, when perhaps only a moment before; you may have felt less than enthusiastic. The most important joy is the joy in the present. When you live in the joy of God you are positive and uplifting to yourself, and to others. The joy of your spiritual identity magnified in your thoughts whisper gladness to your entire being. Today, you are focused on the joy of celebrating your spirituality. You are not held prisoner by your thoughts or conditions in your life. You rise above conditions with a song of joy in your heart. There is no greater joy, or ecstasy, than the soul's awakening to God’s ever-abiding presence. Until this awakening, we are on an eternal quest for that "something" that will satisfy the hunger of our longing souls. It does not matter what direction are lives have taken; the only inevitable course for us leads to God, to good, and to joy. Joy is a habit and a habitation of the heart that abides in God's love. We cannot wait for today to be gone; we want tomorrow and its joys. But anxious waiting for the morrow robs us of real enjoyment of today and does nothing toward making tomorrow better. Life is meant to be a joy, and the joy of living is ours when we live in the expectancy of God's good. Joy is a God quality within us that no outer experience can fully destroy. It may be covered up, but we can stir up this gift of God within us and are instructed to do so. Find your happiness and satisfaction from within your own being, and do not look to someone else to give it to you. Do everything you possibly can to make others happy, but also develop your own inner peace and satisfaction. Like ripples that extend out and out when a stone is dropped into a pool, even one thought of joy reaches out and out into your entire life and starts the joyous reaction. God is not dry, and sorrowful, but instead filled with spiritual joy, fuller and sweeter than any other you have known. God awaits to give you the same. Do you want to be happier? Then put more happiness into your life. Joy, enthusiasm, delight in living, can be, and should be natural to you, for you have the personal gift of joy from God. The joy of the Lord is a wellspring within that you can flow out into your life by cultivating a joyous spirit. The plan for humans on earth is to develop their spiritual nature, from which all the happiness, satisfaction, and joy they desire will come into expression. Today our prayer for you at Positive Christianity is that your day is filled with pure joy. POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER: Dear Lord, may the joy of Your presence be my strength. I turn to You, and I ask you to bring more joy into my life. Help me to get beyond the clouds in my own mind, to think in the light of new thinking, and feeling. Help me to recall joyful times so that I can start to rebuild my memory bank, and thus my daily foundation of life. I choose to no longer stand on the foundation of negativity, and belief in what's wrong. I build a new, on what was right, what is right, and what will be right in God. Thank You God.
