August 17, 2018 www.PositiveChristianity.org presents Positive Daily Inspiration GOD SATISFIES "God satisfies the person who is thirsty, and the hungry - God fills with good things." Psalms 107:9 There is an answer to every problem and it is discovered in prayer. The best way to prayer to practice it, to experience it. Most of us know more about prayer than we think we do; we pray more often, more efficiently than we realize. Prayer is the soul’s sincere desire, uncluttered or unexpressed. There is great value in all forms of prayer and meditation. The place to find God is in the stillness of our own being, instead of being distracted by the sights and sounds of the outer world. Meditation helps to center our thoughts in God, to attune our hearts to God, to focus our attention on the presence of God in our midst. Meditation is sometimes called the “silence.” In the silence of prayer, the soul feels oneness with God, and with all that God is. We find that we’re in the presence of pure being, in the presence of love, life, peace, power, wisdom and joy. Beyond thought, beyond words, we feel, and we know that God is and we are. There is a power in the silence of prayer. From this soundless depth of our own being power flows. We connect with this power in the place of stillness within us, the secret place, the place we come to when we say to ourselves, to thoughts, to feelings and to emotion – "Be still and know that I am God." We discover the depths of truth that the monks have known for centuries. At Positive Christianity we believe in prayer that lifts us out of discouragement and despair, for this is true prayer to God. We believe in prayer that gives us self-confidence and inspires us to constructive, positive action. We believe in prayer that gives us insight and understanding of ourselves and others in the most positive light of God. We believe in prayer that refuses to accept negative opinions, that searches for God's truth and light. Prayer can change your life and prayer changes things. As it says in the Bible, “For as a person thinketh in their heart, so are they.” Prayer spiritualizes our attitudes and approach to life. Prayer equips us so that we are capable as a spiritual being endowed with God's own help. When we have a problem, we are told that we should think about God and not the problem. This is often easier said than done. We may be consumed with the thought of the problem. We may spend sleepless nights wondering how we are to solve it. We feel it is our problem. “We can't expect God to solve it for us,” we tell ourselves. The answer is there, of course; the solution is at hand, but we need to open ourselves to God's light, and make ourselves channels through which God's wisdom and intelligence can flow. Stewing and fretting and trying to think our way through a problem is not prayer. The kind of prayer needed is to let go and let God take over, to think about God, not our problem, to relax and say to anxious thoughts and feelings, "Let go. Let God." Think about God, the unfailing power for good at work in us and through all that concerns us. Just the words, “God is here; God is in charge,” may be all that we need to hold onto in order for us to release the problem and rest in faith and trust. God's ideas will come; answers will come; we will see our way clearly. Sometimes our minds become like clenched fists. Clenched fists cannot grab onto or hold onto anything. When our minds are like clenched fists, God's ideas cannot enter. How small our human problems seem, how easily they are to solve, as we take them to God in prayer, as we release them and let our whole being enter into a time of praise and rejoicing for the wonderful power of God at work in us and in our life. When we take a small step in prayer, we can expect large results. The power of prayer is a multiplying power, for the power behind prayer is faith. Jesus spoke of the multiplying power of faith. He likened it to a grain of mustard seed. Prayer that is a prayer of faith, faith that says, "I believe," really means it, because God can work miracles. Jesus says to pray continuously. Prayer is a way of life—prayer is life. We pray continuously, but the more we know about prayer and the more we practice it, the more meaningful life becomes. We find that our first reaction to everything in life becomes a positive one, a God-based reaction. We become stronger, wiser, more loving, more understanding. We can meet our experiences with courage and with the spirit of faith.
