 YOUR OWN SHALL COME TO YOU

“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” – Phil 4:19

Your God-given good cannot be kept from you, it will find its way to you,
for you to keep. Divine justice is on your side.

Knowing that your own shall come to you is a powerful spiritual knowledge.
When you cannot see with your eyes, nor hear with your ears, a higher
knowing can come through faith.

English poet JOHN BURROUGHS wrote,

Serene I fold my hands and wait,
Nor care for wind, nor tide, nor sea.
I rave no more 'gainst time or fate,
For lo! my own shall come to me.

I stay my haste, I make delays,
For what avails this eager pace?
I stand amid the eternal ways,
And what is mine shall know my face.

Asleep, awake, by night or day
The friends I seek are seeking me;
No wind can drive my bark astray,
Nor change the tide of destiny.

What matter if I stand alone?
I wait with joy the coming years;
My heart shall reap when it has sown,
And gather up its fruit of tears.

The stars come nightly to the sky;
The tidal wave comes to the sea;
Nor time, nor space, nor deep, nor high,
Can keep my own away from me.

The waters know their own and draw
The brook that springs in yonder heights;
So, flows the good with equal law
Unto the soul of pure delights.

Author Martha Smock wrote that when we see the word justice, we may think
of lawmakers, the Supreme Court, the Constitution, all that makes up the
concept of justice in a legal sense – court cases, lawsuits, legal
entanglements, unless we run up against a situation in our life that seems
unjust or witness one in which were not personally involved, but are
moved and concerned because of the apparent injustice inflicted upon
someone else. Then we want justice; we pray for justice.

This is when it is important that we have a strong and solid belief in
the Divine Law of justice, the law that is above and beyond human-made law
and is the law that always assures the right outworking of all things.

The idea of justice, first, needs to be based on the truth that
God’s law of justice is always at work, that ultimately, despite
appearances, God’s law of justice ALWAYS prevails.

The idea of justice needs to be based, too, on the truth that no one can
usurp our place; that no one can take away our good; that our own good
comes to us under Divine law. This realization sets us free from unhappy
comparisons of ourselves with others. This realization helps us to know
that we are beloved of God and have our own important place and part to
fill in the world.

The lower human law of attraction is also often at work. There is often a
justice dictated by human mind. Have you ever known a person who felt that
the world was against him, who felt that he was unjustly treated, who
believes that others were taking advantage of him?

A feeling of being unjustly treated can build up in us, sometimes without
our being consciously aware of that. There are persons who always feel
that they are getting the short end of the stick, who feel that everyone
fairs better than they. In feeling this way continuously, they tend to
attract these experiences to them continuously.

Do you remember the parable of the prodigal son, how the elder brother
felt very unfairly treated, and sulked and refused to go in the house
where there was merrymaking because of his younger brother’s return? He
complained to his father that he had been a loyal son; he had stayed home;
he had not shirked his responsibilities. Now, his brother who had wasted
his inheritance in riotous living was being treated like a homecoming hero
– a gold ring on his finger, the fatted calf for a feast.

But the father said to the elder son, “Son, you are always with me, and
all that is mine IS YOURS.”

This is what we need to realize. No one can take our place. We can rejoice
in the good fortune of others; we can wish others well; we can know that
God’s love is broad enough, understanding enough so that no one is ever
left out. We are never overlooked, never left out. All that God has is
ours.

Rather than rail against the injustice, rather than feel unfairly or
unjustly treated, let us lift our thoughts and feelings, let us lift up
our faith.

We are each beloved of God. Our own comes to us under Divine law. God’s
law of justice and harmony is always at work in all situations.

Dear God, I pray that my good comes to me.
I pray that I do everything that I need to do to prepare the way for it to come.
Help me not to block any of my good.
Help me to realize that all that You have prepared for me is mine, and cannot be taken from me.
I accept my good.

In Jesus Christ's name… Amen
