 FEELING LOST?

“Take every thought captive to obey Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5

If you are lost – outside the spiritual flow of God's good – you need to get
back on course and follow Divine direction. You pray for God's will in
your life and know it is the best direction. God's will is for your life to be rich
and fulfilled. Any problem lies in our limited ability to perceive the greater
good that is available to us from God.

For example, the healing need may be for a strained relationship that has
left you in anguish. You may pray that the relationship be restored to
what was prior to the pain. Perhaps this is in your best interest and
that of the other person’s best interest, but what if it is not?

We need to remind ourselves to pray, believing that the healing of the
situation and the perfect outworking of the relationship will come about.
This may mean that we need to release the other person to go his or her
own way; but if that should happen, we know that God has a wonderful way
of filling the empty places of our hearts.

Some of us may feel that we are willing to accept God's answers, but we
are not sure that our prayers are heard. We may feel that God is still so
far away as to be hidden, or even unreachable. At such times, it is easy
to fall into childlike ways of thinking of God. We may contribute human
qualities to God and think that God has more important things to contend
with than our personal needs. We may plead, cajole, or try to bargain for
God's favor, especially if we feel unworthy. The feeling of unworthiness
comes from a belief that we can be separated from God.

Through our awareness of God's presence, we align ourselves with the
source of constant, renewing energy. Prayer and meditation are two ways
of bringing ourselves into this conscious awareness of God's presence.
Prayer is not an attempt to convince God of our worthiness to experience
the best in any area of our lives. Prayer is our conscious attunement to
spiritual power; it is stilling ourselves and readying ourselves to receive.

In the midst of a stressful situation, we may find it difficult to still
our minds, because our minds are so filled with concern. When we are able
to quiet ourselves enough, we will feel receptive to God. Many of us have
at some time, experienced fear and the feeling of isolation so overwhelming
that it was difficult to raise our thoughts and feelings above anguish.
However, in the Psalms, David tells us, "God is your refuge and strength, a
very present help in trouble." Psalms 46:1

Try saying, today, aloud in prayer, "God is my refuge and strength – my
ever-present help." This is highly beneficial, even if at first the words
seem mechanical. They help you get your thought removed from challenge
and to focus on the power of God with you right now.

Declarations of truth can be taken from the Bible, such as,
"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want." Psalms 23:1

"I fear no evil; for thou art with me." Psalms 23:4

Our lives are directed in a flawless manner as we follow the perfect, ever
present guidance of God.
